The James River Steward’s Almanac

InspirationFishing on the Rocks - David Everett

Be a Friend of the River…spend a day on the James.

What inspires you to want to protect our waters? Re-connecting with nature can do you a world of good, while reminding you why you’ve always cared about leaving the earth better than you found it. The James is always a good host, offering a refreshing bath, a soothing soundtrack of flowing water and bird songs, and plenty to see and do any time of year. Why not take a day and head to the James?

If you are already familiar with the James, why not introduce some other folks to it? Bring children and friends to the river and share your knowledge and commitments with them. Our children and young adults need all the experience they can get with nature. More and more electronic distractions and other demands have disconnected young citizens from their heritage: America’s Great Outdoors. For those who know the woods and waters themselves, it is imperative, now more than ever, that you share this knowledge and culture with as wide a circle as possible. This sort of community building is what ensures that the river will have advocates in the present and the future.
