The James River is great to experience by land as well as on the water. Here are some interesting trails and routes to follow on a crisp fall day.

The Virginia Capitol Trail- the paved bicycling trail being completed between Jamestown, Williamsburg and Richmond follows the history of the James River as well as the state and nation.

Richmond’s James River Park System Trails- Follow these trails on a mountain bike or on foot to discover the wild side of Richmond along both banks of the James River.

The James River Face Wilderness- Where the Appalachian Trail and the Blue Ridge Mountains meet the James near Glasgow, VA, a hiker’s paradise awaits.

The Colonial Parkway – A cycling route the connects the James and York Rivers in a history-rich tour.
